Temporary Certification

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) on June 18, 2010 released a final rule outlining the process by which temporary certification bodies will be selected to test and certify Electronic Health Records (EHR) and EHR Modules. July 1, 2010 ONC began accepting applications for Authorized Testing and Certification Bodies (ONC-ATCB) who perform temporary EHR certification. Then on August 30, 2010, HHS and ONC announced the first two ONC-ATCBs, the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and the Drummond Group Inc. In total, six certification bodies have been identified under the temporary program.

Under the temporary program, LSS has selected and certified our EHR software releases with the ONC-ATCB Drummond Group, Inc. Through Drummond, LSS has completed certification for our MAGIC v5.6.4, Client/Server v5.6.4, Client/Server v5.6.5 and MPM 6.0 v6.07. This means that these versions have been evaluated against the NIST Test Procedures and are compliant with the Stage 1 Federal requirements for meaningful use.

Permanent Certification

LSS Data Systems is also closely following the development of the permanent certification program. ONC released the permanent certification final rule on January 7, 2011, which outlines the permanent processes for identifying certified EHR products into the future. Over the next year the programs within this rule will be implemented to ensure a smooth transition from the temporary to the permanent program for Stage 2 of meaningful use. LSS will continue to closely follow the developments of permanent certification program as well as the other components of the CMS incentive programs.
