Meaningful Use Road Map
LSS Data Systems is continuing to follow the Federal regulatory processes regarding Health Information Technology incentives, meaningful use and certification. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services published a Notice of Proposed Rule Making (NPRM) to define meaningful use and the incentive programs on January 13, 2010. The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) at the same time also published an Interim Final Rule (IFR) identifying implementation specification and certification criteria to demonstrate meaningful use.
These two rules updated the initial definition of meaningful use and the implementation and certification criteria issued through the HIT Policy and HIT Standards committees. We have posted Product Road Maps (Client/Server, MAGIC and MPM 6.0)* which compares LSS functionality to the Federal requirements. This road map identifies the:
- Eligible Professional Stage 1 objectives and measures
- Government calculations for measuring Meaningful Use
- Adopted content exchange and vocabulary standards
- LSS or partner applications needed
- Strategies for deploying the needed functionality
LSS is also constantly reviewing our products to incorporate any new technologies or features to enhance the usability of our products. This includes new reporting features or other functions that are directly correlated to the new requirements and those which are necessary features to garner adoption of the meaningful use objectives and measures.
In addition to preparing our products to meet the objectives of meaningful use, LSS is committed to offering certified solutions to meet our customers meaningful use goals. Our certification plans include certifying 5.64+ MAGIC and Client/Server releases and the 6.0 release. At this time the temporary Federal certification organizations have not yet been selected and the processes for that selection are just getting underway. Once organizations have been selected and the final certification criteria are published, LSS will evaluate the certification options and update our plans.
*These roadmaps haven't been updated with the final regulations released July 13, 2010. The roadmaps are currently being updated with the new information and will be posted here when complete.
