LSS Positioned to Help Customers with Health IT Stimulus Funds
March 9, 2009

On February 17, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Act aims to stimulate the economy through investments in infrastructure, unemployment benefits, transportation, education and healthcare. The act includes a significant investment in healthcare information technology infrastructure to assist providers and health care organizations in adopting and using health IT. LSS Data Systems supports the economic stimulus package as key to significant allocation of funds to improve our health care information technology infrastructure. The two major areas of funding are:

  • $2 billion for the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) to "jump start" electronic health record (EHR) adoption and spur the development of the national health information infrastructure
  • $17.2 billion in incentives through the Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement systems to assist providers and organizations in adopting certified EHR technology

LSS continues to closely monitor the development of this legislation as requirements are further defined in order to ensure that customers receive the incentives, grants and reimbursements available to them. Our longstanding commitment to the EHR certification process along with our active involvement in advocacy efforts through associations such as the HIMSS Electronic Health Record Association (EHRA) positions our company and our customers well.

Customers are encouraged to contact their Sales Representatives or Applications Specialists to arrange for a more detailed discussion regarding how LSS can help them take advantage of these positive changes in our industry.
