Avera HealtheCARE Forum Gathers Hundreds Around the Midwest for EHR Education

LSS Data Systems' customer Avera Health hosted its fifth annual HealtheCARE Forum February 26-27 in Sioux Falls, SD. Approximately 300 physicians and other health care professionals from many of the organization's hospitals and 200-plus clinics across five states attended the event to better understand and incorporate information technology into their practices.
For providers looking forward to implementing or continuing to utilize additional functionality within the LSS Medical and Practice Management (MPM) Suite, the forum provided a chance to visualize the impact and benefits the software can have on their clinics. LSS staff provided demonstrations of new MPM features they will be receiving in the upcoming months in the clinical, administrative and revenue cycle management arenas. Avera clinicians and other staff members were excited to see the new functionality designed to streamline their workflow.
This forum gave Avera the opportunity to showcase some of the year's achievements, talk about future endeavors and address how current industry and economic initiatives are impacting Avera and the health care industry. Keynote speakers, Blair Childs, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Premier, Inc., and Ian Morrison, author and futurist, gave informative presentations on the state of the Health Care Reform and the Future of Health Care. Other sessions provided Avera attendees with a look at Meaningful Use as it stands today, tricks and tips for efficient use of the MEDITECH and LSS software, as well as a variety of other informational sessions.
For providers already utilizing MPM, the Avera HealtheCARE Forum provided opportunities for sharing best practices, networking with colleagues and collaborating on how to successfully incorporate the MEDITECH and LSS Electronic Health Record (EHR) into their practices.
