Physicians Discuss Meaningful Use at LSS Provider Development Forum
May 14, 2010

LSS Data Systems hosted its Spring Provider Development Forum on Friday, April 16, with physicians, CIOs and other health care executives participating from around the country. Joined by senior LSS staff and product developers – as well as staff from MEDITECH, Zynx, DrFirst and Medisolv – this full-day event engaged participants with presentations, roundtable discussions and opportunities to network.

Much of the day was spent discussing a range of trends and developments affecting providers in today's health care environment: the American Recovery and Reinvestment (ARRA) Act of 2009, Meaningful Use, health care reform, quality reporting, usability of EHR systems and advances in browser-based technologies.

"This meeting proved once again to be one of our best opportunities to discuss the pertinent health care issues and information technology opportunities from a provider's perspective," said Greg Osmonson, LSS Vice President of Programming and Software Development. "It's a great environment for sharing insights into our products and receiving instant feedback and input directly from physicians using the software."

The meeting ended on a high note as Ken Carlson, LSS CEO and Chief Technology Officer, discussed advances in health care information technology, specifically focusing on our "browser-based world." Mr. Carlson was excited to demonstrate LSS's newest offering, a mobile version of the LSS Patient Portal, available today. He also showed a working prototype of mobile access to the Physician Desktop and MPM EHR through a smartphone device such as the iPhone, which received a great deal of interest from the physicians in attendance.

Physician participants in the LSS Provider Development Forum will continue to be engaged on these and other topics through LSS's web-based Provider Feedback Portals, and planning for the next Fall Forum has already begun. Physicians and executives from LSS customer sites interested in participating may contact Michelle Swofford.

Planning is also underway for an August Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Physician Forum. If you are a current LSS Customer and are actively participating in a PCMH program, please contact Michelle Swofford.
