Physician Desktop

The Physician Desktop is the provider's primary point of access to a patient's health record, presenting an intuitive user interface to match a provider's workflow. Using one unique sign-on and password from any location (hospital, office, home or on the road) physicians may access their office schedules, manage their prioritized tasks, review lab and radiology results, process patient correspondence and electronically sign completed documentation.

Components & Benefits
The Physician Desktop allows providers to follow the same workflow processes regardless of location. Highlights include:

• One centralized location to access all daily routines for ambulatory and acute locations via complete integration with MEDITECH modules
• Real-time notification of abnormal lab/radiology results
• Integrated clinical messaging, enabling physicians to easily communicate with nursing and other ambulatory staff
• Real-time access to physician office schedules
• Access to inpatient, outpatient and emergency patients to perform necessary activities such as documentation and ordering
• Ability to review and sign medical records from a single worklist
• Messages are electronically filed to the patient's Ambulatory Patient Record (APR)

Workload Management
The Physician's Desktop has been designed to help physicians prioritize and streamline the daily workflow process. The Workload Management tool utilizes "push technology" to notify the provider of critical test results and other items requiring immediate attention. Workload Management also allows physicians to effectively manage daily tasks including:

• Common screen to review and sign multiple medical records
• Task list to organize and prioritize prescription renewals, lab orders and results, clinical notes, etc.
• Concise, personalized physician schedule
• Direct access point to the Ambulatory Patient Record (APR) and Ambulatory Order Management (AOM)

Clinical Messaging
Workload Management provides medical staff with a simple and intuitive tool for sending messages related to patient care. The messaging tool allows the user to prioritize and direct specific tasks such as:

• Processing patient phone calls
• (Re)scheduling patients
• Renewing prescriptions
• Reviewing diagnostic results flowing in real-time from MEDITECH's Laboratory and Radiology modules

The messaging tool is fully integrated with the patient's Ambulatory Patient Record. Therefore, each time a message is sent, a note is attached to the patient's record.
